How can you make a difference?

UNICEF seeks a Fundraising Officer (Digital) to work with the Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) in Geneva to provide support to teams across UNICEF.

The main purpose of the job is to support markets with delivery of fundraising campaigns, with a specific focus on testing, analytics, and paid digital media in campaigns.

To achieve these results, the professional will support the digital teams from the markets to increase their digital fundraising activities and maximize results, providing additional capacity and capability. The incumbent will provide technical fundraising expertise, guidance on optimizing acquisition and testing to maximize revenue.

MAIN TASKS

Analytics and Conversion Rate Optimization

  • Manage and implement digital analytics, attribution and A/B testing solutions as required, working with agencies where appropriate.
  • Support the unicef.org Global Giving Platform to improve performance in conversion and journeys.
  • Collaborate with PFP teams, UNICEF offices and ICT for strategic projects such as the Digital Transformation Project and CRM Project.
  • Support UNICEF offices with digital analytics and CRO projects.
  • Testing

  • Support new innovative fundraising projects in National Committees and country offices with expert digital knowledge e.g. testing of machine learning.
  • Support digital tests working with key markets to pilot new techniques and roll out learnings globally.
  • Work closely with Division of Communications to ensure a streamlined and optimized experience for visitors from unicef.org and social media properties to the help.unicef.org platform.
  • Assist National Committees and country offices in acquiring and enhancing specific digital knowledge or providing technical support on implementation of digital fundraising campaigns.
  • Campaign support and implementation

  • Work with agencies and suppliers related to paid digital media, digital content, creative and user experience as well as technology implementation.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Team to manage digital campaigns (website content, SEM advertising and email communications, a/b testing) for global campaigns.
  • Be part of the implementation team on the roadmap for global digital technology solutions including the global online fundraising platform, email platform, analytics platform, etc.
  • Fundraising Consultancy

  • Provide specialist digital marketing and fundraising knowledge to PFP staff in Fundraising Services, Market Development (and wider).
  • Input into PFP’s overall strategic planning with digital strategy and support this strategy with National Committees and country offices.
  • Provide specialist digital knowledge to UNICEF National Committees and country offices as required.
  • Support markets in maximizing offline opportunities through leveraging digital.
  • Other

  • Support the development of investment plans, business cases and opportunities as required.
  • Lead UNICEF digital brand protection initiatives as necessary, particularly for SEM.
  • Advice on global investment allocation and support the development of investment applications, as well as the subsequent implementation and monitoring of these programs.
  • Support for emergency fundraising in addition to these duties, the incumbent will also provide support to markets in the event of a significant media-driven emergency.
  • Risk management the incumbent will remain sensitive to risk in the programs that he/she is supporting and escalate as necessary.
  • Work with external vendors in support of the above objectives.

  • Donation flows are optimized through testing.
  • Managing fundraising reporting through Google Analytics
  • Technical support to fundraising specialists.
  • Support provided in the implementation of digital workplans per market.
  • Best practices are identified and shared in between markets.
  • Lead acquisition and nurturing is boosted thanks to optimizing processes.
  • Integration is promoted throughout channels and departments.
  • Activities for income generation are launched into non-fundraising markets.
  • New payment methods and integrated payment hubs are analyzed with recommendations for implementation.
  • Relevant team members are trained and upskilled.
  • Digital webinars are created and offered to markets on a regular basis.
  • Digital agencies are researched and input provided into the hiring of agencies.
  • ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

    The estimated duration of the contract is 364 days, starting on the second quarter of 2019.

    REPORTING TO

    The position will depend on the PFP Digital Unit in Geneva, and will work under the supervision of the Head of Digital in Individual Giving.

    WORK PLACE

    Geneva, Switzerland.The professional will be based in Geneva, with some travel and extended stays within the countries a possibility. In exceptional circumstances, we will consider basing the position in other countries upon agreement.

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

    Education:

    A University Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Digital Fundraising, or other relevant filed is required. Any other additional training in a related field is an asset.

    Experience:

    At least two years of progressively responsible work experience in international digital campaigns, marketing and digital fundraising areas, with specific focus on areas such as digital acquisition, cultivation and retention of pledge donors, integrated media planning, and marketing communications and multi-channel campaign management. It would be an advantage if the person had gained the above experience in both agency and charity environments.

    Technical areas:

    Required: analytics and tracking, A/B testing, CRO, SEO, SEM, online paid media, web and donation forms development, UX. Desirable: experience of Donor Perfect and Salesforce, coding, content management systems, search engine marketing, marketing automation tools and e-mail broadcasting tools.

    Languages:

    Fluency in English is required. Other languages are desirable but not essential.

    BACKGROUND ON IMPACT AND REACH

    REACH was born in 2010 as a joint initiative of two International NGOs (IMPACT Initiatives and ACTED) and the United Nations Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT). REACH’s purpose is to promote and facilitate the development of information products that enhance the humanitarian community’s decision making and planning capacity for emergency, reconstruction and development contexts. REACH facilitates information management for aid actors through three complementary services: (a) need and situation assessments facilitated by REACH teams; (b) situation analysis using satellite imagery; (c) provision of related database and (web)-mapping facilities and expertise.

    IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO, based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organisation manages several initiatives, including the REACH Initiative. The IMPACT team comprises specialists in data collection, management and analysis and GIS. IMPACT was launched at the initiative of ACTED, an international NGO whose headquarter is based in Paris and is present in thirty countries. The two organizations have a strong complementarity formalized in a global partnership, enabling IMPACT to benefit from ACTED’s operational support on its fields of intervention.

    We are currently looking for a Communications Intern to support our team in Geneva.

    POSITION PROFILE

    A. Supervision

    Under the supervision of the Communications Officer, the Communications Intern will support in a variety of activities from content production to organisational support.

    B. responsibilities

    Amplifying the reach of IMPACT Initiatives by:

    • Supporting in the production of communication updates, such as newsletters and website articles;
    • Updating and curating the social media sites used by IMPACT and using monitoring tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook Insights to assess the development potential of the channels;
    • Supporting in media and partner relations by media monitoring;
    • Developing and fine-tuning communication and visibility material as well as supporting in the printing, ordering and distribution of these materials;
    • Support in the drafting of country or project specific communications and dissemination plans;
    • Keeping an eye on communication innovations, tools and approaches that could support the work done by IMPACT.

    Strengthening the internal communication of IMPACT by

    • Supporting in the in preparation of materials for meetings and drafting minutes;
    • Supporting in the development of tools and templates for the use of teams in the HQ as well as in the field.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The person we are looking for:

    • Studies journalism, communications, design and/or social sciences or other relevant field and has an interest for the humanitarian field;
    • Is enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree;
    • Has strong writing, communications, publishing and editing skills;
    • Has excellent written and spoken command of English;
    • Has knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and online publishing (WordPress and social media platforms) and is willing to deepen these skills;
    • Is passionate about communications and innovative ways of sharing and creating information;
    • Has experience and a passion to learn of copy-writing, editing, marketing and humanitarian communications;
    • Is attentive to detail but also able to look at the “big picture”;
    • Is a team player, but also has the capacity to work independently;
    • Has the ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment and to meet deadlines.

    To increase funding and to maximize supporter engagement UNICEF PFP communicates with the individual supporters, key influencers, businesses and governments around the world. The Division is responsible for generating income and support, whilst also advocating for children’s rights through these audiences and the Communication and Marketing section supports PFP in producing content to achieve the goals of the Private Sector IMPACT Plan 2018 – 2021.

    How can you make a difference?

    The Communication and Marketing section of UNICEF PFP seeks a Graphic Designer and information management professional to provide creative and compelling visual communication materials for different sections within the Division. The products produced will support the Global Brand Strategy and the Private Sector IMPACT Plan 2018 – 2021.

    Scope of work and tasks

    Under the direction of the UNICEF Design Specialist and the Design Assistant, the consultant will undertake the following tasks in accordance with UNICEF’s Global Brand Guidelines and Graphics Manual:

  • Design reports, brochures, toolkits, newsletters, fact sheets, briefing notes, and other such publications to support the sections within the Division to communicate their content in the most effective and compelling way, applying the UNICEF brand guidelines throughout for consistency and coherence.
  • Design infographics, data visualization and factographs for print and/or digital platforms, including the Division’s intranet and social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter).
  • Design and layout PowerPoint presentations, as requested.
  • Source quality and most suitable photo and videos from the UNICEF database in line with the global guidelines.
  • Design logo and vector illustrations, as requested.
  • Produce geographic maps of countries and regions using latest technology and most up to date maps, as requested.
  • Design posters and graphic materials to support events, campaigns and meetings, as requested.
  • Liaise and coordinate the printing production of certain publications and materials.
  • Design and produce motion graphics, as requested.
  • Meet with project sponsors to agree on creative brief, timelines and deliverables.
  • Deliverables

    Quality designed products for various UNICEF sections within PFP, as requested, completed in line with UNICEF brand requirements and delivered within specified deadlines.

    Travel

    The consultant may be required to travel to the UNICEF office in Geneva or other UNICEF offices to meet with project sponsors to discuss the creative brief and creative solutions.

  • University degree in graphic design or comparable academic qualifications
  • At least five years of professional graphic design experience
  • Good portfolio of design work
  • Ability to follow creative briefs and produce accurate artwork which is in line with the UNICEF brand guidelines

  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products, such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Good working knowledge of PowerPoint and other Office platforms

    UNICEF’s private sector partnerships play a key role in generating the resources, expertise, and technology necessary to achieve our mission of helping children everywhere survive and thrive. The UNICEF Private Fundraising & Partnerships (PFP) Corporate team works with UNF teams worldwide to optimize the corporate sector’s role in this mission, by helping to develop corporate partnerships that deliver sustained value for partners and realize the best possible results for children.

    How can you make a difference?

    This 11.5 months consultancy is established to secure new seven figure international corporate partnerships for UNICEF. You will work closely with German-speaking national committees and fluency in both German and English is essential.

    The consultant will be passionate about initiating contact with major companies, building win/win propositions, and influencing and negotiating the best possible partnerships to deliver for children.

    MAIN TASKS

    Under the general guidance of the Corporate Alliances Manager (Global New Business), the consultant will work closely together with identified German speaking National Committees to help secure new corporate partnerships. The incumbent will have the following specific responsibilities:

  • Work with the National Committee Corporate Teams to identify the greatest market opportunities for 2019.
  • Work with the National Committee Corporate Teams to proactively identify, research and develop multi-million-euro new partnerships:
  • In consultation with the National Committee Corporate Team Leaders and other stakeholders, identifies new potentially suitable corporate partners and appropriate contact persons within these organizations.
  • Secures first meetings and moves forward ongoing partnership discussions – with senior contacts at prospects.
  • Meets with identified corporate prospects, alongside National Committee staff.
  • Develops and delivers opportunities for new corporate partners (including written concept notes, proposals and presentations).
  • Leads the business development process from prospect identification up to contract signature.
  • Participates in events that provide networking opportunities to build pipeline.
  • Co-ordinates senior engagement with these prospects.
  • As part of the global new business team, there may be times when you are asked to support the new business process across a range of other countries.
  • DELIVERABLES

  • Contracts at least one new $1m+ corporate partnership for UNICEF.
  • Secures 3 new meetings with prospects per month.
  • Generates a pipeline of at least 5 other major international prospects in active partnership discussions by the end of the consultancy.

    REPORTING TO

    The PFP Market Knowledge Unit provides insights and knowledge to UNICEF National Committees and fundraising country offices, as well as other units within PFP.

    The PFP Communication and Marketing Section provides UNICEF National Committees and fundraising country offices with guidance and technical support for their public outreach efforts, including individual donations, corporate engagement, and brand and communications. This involves providing market research services covering opinion surveys and market measurements.

    How can you make a difference?

    This consultancy is being established to increase the Market Knowledge unit’s capacity to provide reporting, prepare supporting documentation and research summaries for an increasing number of markets it is serving.

    MAIN TASKS

  • In close coordination with the Market Intelligence Manager three key primary tasks:
  • Produce market Peer Review report for 20+ markets for National Committees and fundraising Country Offices to help them learn from best in class in fundraising. The Peer Review looks at competitors’ income results by income streams and markets.
  • Produce the Inter and the Intra Peer Review reports (2017 data) for Best in Class and Bright spots identification in main fundraising income streams.
  • Produce the global trend reports (2020).
  • Depending on workloads and specific needs, the following tasks may be undertaken also, in coordination with the relevant Market Knowledge staff members:

  • Support Market Knowledge Chief in producing white papers on specific topics (e.g. segmentation and targeting)
  • DELIVERABLES

    High quality, accurate and timely project management, reports, summaries and insights for all studies. Specifically:

  • March 2019: Intra-report based on Peer Review (UNICEF results)
  • April 2019: Inter-report based on Peer Review (competitors’ results)
  • April 2019: Analysis on Major Donor (size, historical trends)
  • September 2019: Country Peer Review (20 to 30 countries)
  • December 2019: Global Trends reports.
  • July 2019: Comparators’ analysis.
  • Table: summary of the deliverables for MKU.

    REPORTING TO

    The incumbent will report to the Market Intelligence Manager of the Market Knowledge Unit, who will provide overall direction and guidance, in close collaboration with the Chief of Market Knowledge.

    WORK PLACE

    The assignment is office-based.
